Acorn Stairlifts is proud to be a member of respected industry bodies and approved trader schemes, which give our customers reassurance that they are dealing with a responsible and trusted company.
One of these organisations is the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) – the UK's oldest and largest healthcare association, founded almost a hundred years ago, in 1917.
Almost 500 companies, together employing more than 17,000 people, are members of the BHTA. All these companies make or sell healthcare and ‘assistive technology’ products which help people live more independently, such as stairlifts.
Being accepted as a member of the BHTA is a rigorous process, with potential members having to demonstrate consistently high standards in the quality of their products and their business practices. All members sign up to a Code of Practice, pledging their commitment to high levels of customer care which go above and beyond their legal obligations. The BHTA’s Code of Practice is the only one in the sector to be overseen by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute.
As part of the code, all BHTA members have agreed not to use high-pressure selling techniques, and to encourage a carer or advisor to be present whenever appropriate during home visits by salesmen. Customers are made fully aware of their consumer rights and have access to a free and independent redress scheme if things go wrong.
In short, becoming a member of the BHTA is tough, and only the best companies are allowed to join and display the prestigious BHTA logo on their promotional material, such as brochures and advertising. When customers see this logo, they know they are dealing with a company they can trust and which will treat them fairly.
Healthcare professionals also know to look out for the BHTA logo when seeking products to help people in their care. It gives them confidence of quality products supplied by a trusted business.
Acorn Stairlifts’ Field Sales Manager Ian Holmes said: “The BHTA is long established and highly respected within the healthcare industry. Becoming a BHTA member gives our customers another level of assurance that when they choose Acorn they’re choosing a company which has their interests at heart and will look after them.”
Acorn was also the first stairlift manufacturer to be granted the Government Endorsed Trust Mark award and to become a member of the Trading Standards Approved Buy With Confidence scheme. Both of these schemes give our customers added confidence that Acorn has been thoroughly vetted and approved by independent official agencies.
