Many people considering a stairlift assume that because it’s a substantial piece of equipment, installing one in their home will mean several days of noise and disruption – but that’s not the case with Acorn Stairlifts.
Depending on what type of staircase you have, one of our award-winning British-made stairlifts could be installed in your home in as little as an hour, and with no mess or domestic upheaval. Even with more complex curved or return staircases, you can have an Acorn Stairlift installed, up and running within just a few hours.
We’ve also been busy installing new stairlifts (and maintaining existing ones) throughout the coronavirus pandemic, having introduced a range of hygiene and social distancing protocols for working in customers’ homes. You won’t even need to be in the same room while the work’s going on. You can find out more by clicking here.
The speed and efficiency of Acorn installations is one of the things our customers frequently comment on, but after fitting hundreds of thousands of stairlifts over the past 28 years, we like to think we’ve got it down to a fine art. Another advantage is that Acorn does not use subcontractors to fit our stairlifts, but our own highly-trained installation engineers who know the product inside out and can overcome virtually any obstacle.
At Acorn we manufacture stairlifts in our own UK factories, sell them direct to customers to keep costs low, then install and maintain them using our own in-house engineers. It means we can offer a ‘one-stop-shop’ solution to customers investing in our quality stairlifts and their ongoing care.
As with many things in life, when it comes to fitting your tailor-made Acorn Stairlift, “it’s all in the preparation”. No two staircases are exactly alike, so the first step is for our home surveyor to carefully and expertly measure and appraise your staircase. This is to determine the type and length of stairlift rail required, plus any modifications such as a hinged rail section at the foot of the stairs if a standard rail might cause an obstruction.
Our surveyor will also chat to you to understand your needs and abilities, because the most important component of the stairlift is the person using it. Only after gathering all this information will our surveyor provide you with a personalised quote, with no hidden extras and valid for a whole year. This whole process is entirely free and carries no obligation, and we won’t pressurise you because we’re confident you’ll agree that Acorn Stairlifts offer the best value-for-money on the market.
On the agreed day of fitting, our installation engineer will arrive with everything he needs in his Acorn Stairlifts liveried van – effectively a mini workshop and warehouse on wheels. Fitting a straight stairlift rail is… well… straightforward! All our stairlifts fix to the stairs, not the wall, so there’s no structural work or redecoration needed, and the electricity to charge the stairlift’s powerful and economical batteries comes from the closest convenient domestic plug socket, so there’s no rewiring either.
The stairlift carriage – the part you ride on – is mounted on the rail and you’re ready to go. Or at least you will be once our engineer has thoroughly checked the stairlift for optimum performance and coached you in its simple and user-friendly operation. Out installers also clean up after themselves so you won’t even need to get the vacuum cleaner out.
For a curved stairlift, the process is very similar, but takes just a little longer. Acorn pioneered its unique FastTrack® system for curved stairlift rails. We manufacture an array of curved rail sections in our Yorkshire factory, each with a slightly different degree of rise or bend. The precise measurements taken during your home survey let us know exactly which of these securely interlocking sections will be needed to assemble your bespoke stairlift rail on site.
Our engineer will arrive equipped with all the sections needed to build your rail, with the FastTrack® system also enabling ‘fine tuning’ during installation. The real joy of FastTrack® is that your curved stairlift can be installed within just a few days of ordering, even next day if urgency is paramount. With other systems you could be waiting for weeks while a one-off curved rail is manufactured in a factory using conventional metal fabrication techniques. Even then there’s a possibility it won’t quite fit when finally delivered to you and might have to go back to the factory to be modified.
So whatever type of stairs you have, with Acorn you can put aside any fears of a long and disruptive installation process. We’ll be in and out before you know it, leaving you with a high quality and attractive home appliance that will give your life a lift every time you use it.
