Whether you need a stairlift in a hurry or you’ve reached the decision more gradually, two questions you’ll probably ask are ‘how much is a stairlift?’ and ‘how quickly can I have one?’
Most stairlift suppliers don’t offer ‘standard rate’ prices for their stairlifts, because there’s no such thing as a standard stairlift installation; each one is different. You should be wary of any company offering a quote before thoroughly assessing the job because you might pay more than you need to and there might be ‘hidden extras’ which aren’t included in a ‘standard’ quote – some don’t even include installation.
At Acorn, we only provide a quote after surveying your staircase and, just as important, understanding exactly what you need from a stairlift. In other words, our quote is for a stairlift designed to precisely meet your setting and your needs, so you’ll get a tailor-made stairlift and you won’t pay a penny more than you have to.
Our quote has no hidden extras and includes installation by a fully-trained Acorn engineer – we don’t use sub-contractors. Both the home survey and personalised quote are completely free and carry no obligation to purchase. Your quote is also valid for a year, giving you plenty of time to make up your mind.
Once you decide to go ahead, your next question will be ‘how soon can my stairlift be installed?’ With an Acorn Stairlift, the short answer is… as soon as it’s convenient for you. Our installation times have set new standards in the industry, especially for more complex curved stairlifts (more on that later). We usually install your stairlift within a few days of your order, but when urgency is vital, we can often fit next day.
A straight stairlift can be installed in about an hour by one of our fully-trained engineers. In the current coronavirus pandemic, we’ll follow strict hygiene and social distancing protocols for any visit to your home – you can find more details by clicking here. For more straightforward stairs, you may opt for our new virtual survey, which does not require a home visit.
Each installation includes a thorough demonstration of how to use your new and user-friendly Acorn Stairlift. Our engineer won’t leave until you’re happy with everything, and even if you think of something later, expert help is only ever a free phone call away.
For curved stairlifts – those with bends or returns – some companies will keep you waiting weeks for installation. That’s because a one-off curved stairlift rail has to be laboriously made in a factory before it can be transported to you. But not with Acorn Stairlifts!
Our patented FastTrack® system for curved stairlift rails has slashed waiting times so you can have your curved stairlift installed within days of your order, even next day in exceptional cases. FastTrack® is a modular system, using pre-made interlocking rail sections. Your survey will determine exactly which sections are needed to build a bespoke rail which precisely follows the unique contours of your staircase.
An Acorn engineer then travels to your home equipped with those sections to assemble and fine-tune the rail on site, before mounting the stairlift carriage on it and fully testing the finished stairlift. Installation of an Acorn 180 curved stairlift typically takes just a few hours.
All Acorn Stairlifts are fixed securely to the stairs, not the wall, so there’s no messy and disruptive structural work such as drilling into plaster and masonry, and no need to redecorate. The power supply is the nearest domestic plug socket, so it’s very rare that any rewiring is needed. Acorn engineers even clean up after themselves, so if it wasn’t for your new Acorn Stairlift you wouldn’t even know they’d been.
